Stars swap for two players, two picks, future considerations

Lincoln, NE-On Wednesday the Stars announced a trade with the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Lincoln will send defenseman Declan Carlile and forward Max Ellis to Muskegon in return for forward Brock Bremer, defenseman Hunter Skinner, a 2019 Phase II 4th round pick, a 2020 phase I 4th round pick, and future considerations.

Bremer is a 1999-born forward from Forest Lake, Minnesota who's scored seven goals and 11 assists through 30 games with the Lumberjacks. The right-handed shot played in the AJHL last year, scoring 19 goals and 43 assists in 58 games for the Camrose Kodiaks. Bremer is currently committed to the University of Nebraska Omaha.

Hunter Skinner is an '01 from Brighton, Michigan. The promising defenseman and 2019 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game participant was upgraded to a B rating on Central Scouting's most recent watch list. Through 24 games, the 6-2 170 lbs, right-handed defender has three goals and eight assists. As a 16-year old last year, Skinner skated in 31 games for Muskegon. He's committed to Western Michigan University.

The Stars also acquired a 2019 Phase II 4th round pick, as well as a 2020 Phase I 4th round selection, along with future considerations.

"We are excited to add Hunter and Brock," said Stars GM Jon Hull. "They both possess the skill sets that we look for in players, as well as both players will be back next year and that was important to us."

Heading to Muskegon will be rookie blue-liner Declan Carlile. The Merrimack commitment contributed 32 solid games with the Stars, scoring three goals and 11 assists. Carlile's strong play and upside has been noted by Central Scouting, earning a C rating in the most recent players to watch list.

Joining Carlile in the move to the Lumberjacks is forward Max Ellis. Ellis was traded from the Central Illinois Flying Aces to the Stars at the end of November. The '00-born forward has played 157 games in the USHL, recording 32 goals and 49 assists over that span. He's scored eight goals and 12 assists in 34 games this season for the Flying Aces and Stars. Ellis is committed to Notre Dame.

"Declan and Max will add to Muskegon's already powerful lineup," said Hull. "We appreciate their efforts here in Lincoln and wish them both well."

The Stars will return to the ice tomorrow in Madison, taking on the Capitols at 7:05 PM CST. They'll follow that game up with a trip to Omaha to take on the Lancers Saturday, and a home game against Muskegon on Faith and Family Day, Sunday.

Faith & Family Day returns to the Ice Box for another matinee for an afternoon of faith and community as well as a post-game skate with the Stars and a playing of the movie Facing the Giants. A portion of ticket sales for Faith & Family Day will benefit Food for the Hungry, a faith-based mission to build clean water solutions in third-world countries. Last year, the Stars and the Lincoln Stars Foundation helped to raise over $230,000 toward clean water initiatives in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Order your tickets today!
