The National Hockey League's Central Scouting has released its final list of the top North American skaters and goalies, and the top International skaters and goalies ahead of the upcoming NHL Entry Draft in Montreal, QC. The draft will take place on July 7th and 8th.
Cameron Whitehead was ranked seventh among North American goaltenders following an impressive first season in Lincoln. The 18-year-old netminder posted a record of 16-8-2-2 with a goals-against average of 3.19 and a save percentage of .892.
Michael Mastrodomencio found himself listed at No. 78 among North American skaters after his second season patrolling the Stars blue line. In 53 games, Mastrodomenico scored four goals and added 14 assists. This past month, the Kirkland, QC native represented Team Canada at the 2022 IIHF U18 World Championships.
Affiliates Brennan Ali (83rd) and Marian Mosko (89th) were right behind Mastrodomenico and are both expected to step into significant roles with the Stars in 2022-23. Ali appeared in nine games with Lincoln this season, tallying two assists. At Avon Old Farms, the 18-year-old forward potted 34 points in 27 games.
Mosko skated in two games for Lincoln in Frisco, TX during the Frosty Cup in late January. The Slovakian-born defenseman had the second-most points (42) at Selects Academy in 2021-22, leading the club with 31 assists.
Recently drafted Jack Sparkes (127th - NA skaters) and Veit Oswald (108th - International) were also recognized in the final rankings. Sparkes, a 6’7” defenseman, was taken 70th overall in this week’s Phase II Draft. The Michigan State commit played for the St. Michael’s Buzzers of the OJHL last season.
Oswald led EV Landshut in Germany with 51 points in 31 games in 2021-22 and was picked in the 17th round (254th overall) by the Stars in Phase II.
