Lancers Score Late, Down Stars 4-2

RALSTON, Neb. - The Omaha Lancers (18-14) scored late, rallying for a 4-2 victory over the Lincoln Stars (10-17-1) on Saturday night at Ralston Arena.
Zach Dubinsky, who played over 70 games for Lincoln from 2017-19, opened the scoring on the power play at 5:21.
Jake Beaune fired home his fourth goal of the season in response at 15:28, tying the game at one. Dominic James assisted on the Livonia, MI native’s second tally this week. After one period, Lincoln led in the shot totals 9-6 while being tied 1-1.
During a second stanza that included numerous opportunities for both sides, Clay Hanus was the one to eventually break through with a backhand that went top shelf at 15:28, giving Lincoln their first lead of the night. Hanus’ first goal in the USHL was assisted by Beaune.
The Stars were up 2-1 after 40 minutes with shots evened up at 18.
Dubinsky would tie up the game with another power-play strike at 9:53. Omaha kept pushing the tempo as they had the Stars on their heels. Nolan Renwick directed a shot from the right side through screens, sending Ralston Arena into a frenzy at 18:11. Now down 3-2, Lincoln pulled Ryan Ouellette for the extra attacker, but Cam Mitchell buried an empty-netter at 19:06 to make it 4-2 Omaha.
Lincoln went 0-for-3 on the power play and 5-for-7 on the penalty kill. Ouellette turned aside 28 of 31 shots while Reilly Herbst stopped 20 for the Lancers.
