Dear Stars Nation,
It is a SAD day in Stars Nation.
As a result of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the USHL Board of Directors has voted unanimously to cancel the remainder of the 2019-20 season.
As disappointing as this is, there is nothing more important than the health, safety, and well-being of our players, fans, staff, and coaches.
As we work our way through these unprecedented and frightening circumstances, we must remain united. Locally, we have an awesome hockey family who loves one another, love our players and always stand up for each other in times of need. Now is one of those times, we are so blessed to have one another to lean on and to be a part of Stars Nation. We will get through this.
I am reminded of Herb Brooks’ famous quote in Miracle, “The name on the front is a lot more important than the name on the back.”
Well, like in the movie, the name on the front is ‘USA’ and we need to stand strong and united for our country as we battle through fear and adversity. We also ask our hockey family to come together to support our Stars players as their dreams of winning a Clark Cup, being drafted and earning a college scholarship are all put on indefinite hold.
We also hope we can count on your understanding during this trying time for the Stars organization. It’s no secret losing nine home games will have a significant financial impact on our business, but with your support, we know we will get through this like every other challenge and continue to build our Stars community together.
At the end of the day, it’s not about us, like we say in our core values: “The We is far more important than the Me.”
I know there will be lots of questions about what happens next regarding the offseason (“When does next season start?” “When is the draft?”).
All of this is unknown at this point, but as and when information becomes available, you can count on us to deliver it in a timely fashion.
Here is what we do know.
Your tickets will NOT go to waste.
If you are a season ticket holder you will have two options:
If you have booked a group or purchased a single-game ticket, you will be able to re-use those tickets to a game in the 2020-21 season. We will guarantee availability for you.
Our staff will be available to answer questions and work through issues; we will figure out the fun drawings and other prizes for renewal and certainly announce those very shortly. Also please know Lori and our business staff are using this unexpected downtime to expand on the momentum we had begun to build, to deliver an even greater experience in the coming season.
In closing, I want to say humbly, I am so blessed to be a part of Stars Nation. The support we have received to this point has been amazing and sometimes I just need to stop and acknowledge all of you for the way you handle adversity and certainly your passion as it relates to all things Lincoln Stars.
We will get through this together!
