LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (13-12-3) were unable to hold onto a 2-1 lead, losing 4-2 against the Omaha Lancers (13-9-5) at the Ice Box on Friday night.
Brock Bremer scored the lone goal in the opening frame of regulation, 14:05 into the first period. Josh Groll and Anthony Follmer picked up the assists on the forward’s 7th goal of the year. Logan Will answered for Omaha in the second period, tying the game at the 10:38 point of the middle frame.
Ty Glover gave Lincoln the lead back with 10.5 seconds to go in the second period, with Colby Enns and Groll providing the helpers.
Lincoln would head into the third period leading for only the eighth time all season (6-0-1 before tonight) but quickly found themselves trailing after a pair of Lancers goals separated by 54 seconds. Ryan Lautenbach notched up the game at two apiece at 3:04 while Will picked up his second of the game at 3:58.
The Stars would deploy a late push, but Grant Anderson would provide the final nail in the coffin with an empty-net goal right before the final horn. Lancers goaltender Kyle McClellan made 24 saves on 26 shots to pick up his sixth win of the season. Ryan McInchak made 21 saves on 24 shots in the loss for Lincoln.
There were no penalties called in the game.
