Simonetta to broadcast 62 regular-season games and manage Stars communications

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars announced on Monday that they’ve hired Cristiano Simonetta as the team’s new Broadcaster/Social Media Manager. Simonetta will provide play-by-play for the Stars’ 62 regular-season games on Lincoln Stars Radio and HockeyTV. He will also manage digital/social media, public relations and community relations for the team.

“We had over 60 applicants for this opportunity at the Stars and in my opinion, Cristiano just fit what we were looking for,” Stars owner Ryan Schiff said. “He has excellent and extremely relative experience from the University of Illinois. His enthusiasm will be contagious around our team and front office; I’m very excited for him to join the Stars."

The 23-year-old Simonetta is a native of Carol Stream, Illinois and a graduate of the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in journalism. He spent the 2018-19 season covering the St. Louis Blues for The Athletic in a digital content role as well as broadcasting the ACHA Men’s DI National Tournament. Simonetta has been the voice of the last two ACHA Men’s DI National Championship games.

“I’d like to thank Ryan Schiff and the Lincoln Stars for providing me with an excellent opportunity to broadcast for one of the most storied organizations in the USHL,” Simonetta said. "I can’t wait for the regular season to start and be fully immersed in the unique atmosphere that Lincoln has boasted over the last 23 years."

During his time at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, Simonetta broadcasted Illini Hockey for four years, while also managing their social media and assisting in their communications department.

Simonetta will be the new “Voice of the Stars,” making his preseason debut at the Ice Box on September 20th, as the Stars take on the Sioux City Musketeers. His regular-season debut will be at the USHL Fall Classic in Pittsburgh, PA on September 26th when Lincoln faces off against the Fargo Force. Follow him on Twitter @CMS_74_.
