Giving
back to the Lincoln community is important to the players and
staff of the Lincoln Stars organization. Through partnerships
with the Nebraska Lottery and Applebee’s , the Stars helped
contribute to the Lincoln Food Bank, Capital Humane Society,
Autism Speaks, Star City Figure Skating Club, Lincoln Ice Hockey
Association and Nebraska Children’s Home. The Stars are
committed to improving the quality of their community through
fundraising for charitable organizations, school and hospital
visits and various community service activities.

The
Lincoln Stars have participated in the Lincoln Alzheimer's
walk for the past 6 years. |

School
Visits
Nearly every week
of the season you will find the Stars making trips to area schools.
The players participate in Q & A and talk to kids about
a variety of topics like, goal setting and always trying your
best. If you are interested in a school visit from the Stars,
please contact the Stars’ assistant coaches at (402) 474-7827,
extension 10 or 15 for more information.
Jersey
Auction
Each season, the Stars partner with the Muscular Dystrophy Association
for the “Jerseys Off Our Backs” Auction, sponsored
by Ayars & Ayars, Inc. The one-of-a-kind, game worn jerseys
are auctioned off in a live auction at the Ice Box. Winners
receive the jersey signed by the player and a photo with the
player. In 2007, the “Jerseys Off Our Backs” auction
helped to raise over $27,000 for MDA.
Blades
For Grades
This program, sponsored
by the Lincoln Journal Star, allows elementary schools to reward
their students for hard work and dedication with tickets to
a Stars home game. Teachers may request Blades for Grades certificates
to present to their students. If you are a Lincoln area teacher
or principal and want to participate, please call 474-7827,
extension 11 to request your certificates or for more information.
Alzheimers
Memory Walk
The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk is the organization’s
national signature event and brings together family, friends,
caregivers and concerned community members — who all want
to make a difference. The Lincoln Stars are proud to participate
each year in this event. The players make an appearance to sign
autographs and take part in the walk through Antelope Park in
Lincoln.
Hospital
Visits
Each season, Stars players visit local hospitals to sign autographs,
pose for pictures and interact with the children. Contact the
Stars’ assistant coaches at 474-7827, ext. 10 or 15 for
more information or to arrange a hospital visit.
Making
Spirits Bright
The
holiday season is an important time for many and the Lincoln
Stars are pleased to partner with 104.1 The Blaze as part of
their annual “Kamp Out for Kids”. In conjunction
with the Kamp Out, the Stars hold a special “Skate with
the Stars” and the annual “Teddy Bear Toss”.
Fans are asked to bring a new stuffed animal to a designated
game that will be tossed onto the ice after the first Stars
goal. The stuffed animals are donated to Lincoln Action Program.
With the generous support of our fans, these events have helped
to make the holidays a little brighter for Lincoln families.
